• ICPAS: The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS) recognises this degree as eligible for the ICPAS Professional Examination. This 5-module examination is the final milestone for qualification as a Certified Public Accountant and awarded the ‘CPA Singapore’ designation, subject to other terms and conditions by the Institute. Graduates must have passed the units specified by ICPAS. Graduates with degrees other than BSc Accounting and Finance may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• ACCA: The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) recognises that 2008 graduates of this programme who have passed combinations of units on this degree or the BSc Banking and Finance are eligible for exemption from certain ACCA modules leading to professional qualification. This degree gives you an understanding of accounting and finance that will be useful throughout your career. This means that we do not simply teach accounting techniques and focus on computational skills with the aim of immediate application, but to enable our students to evaluate their usefulness in different contexts. We encourage you to adopt a critical and flexible viewpoint and to look at the subject from a variety of perspectives, including the international dimension.
Structure and Syllabus:
You will be required to make a serious attempt in the examination for 12 units on the Standard Route of the degree. On the Graduate Entry Route you must take and pass 9 full units.
You can take the Foundation and Further units in any order, provided you satisfy any prerequisites (units which you must have already passed). Prerequisites are shown in italic text in brackets.
Most students, however, would normally take the Foundation units first because (as their name suggests) they are the ‘building blocks' – the foundation – for the units that follow.
